4/9 ADF Entitlements – Home Purchase or Sales Expenses Allowance (HPSEA)

If you have just joined this series it will be worth going back and looking at the previous 3 emails covering Your ADF Entitlements and how to use them!

Letโ€™s now look at the Home Purchase or Sales Expenses Allowance (HPSEA).

The HPSEA scheme is founded on the principle that you should not be denied the privilege of living in your own home because you are serving your country. As compensation for posting you in different locations around the country every two years, youโ€™re entitled to be reimbursed for a range of fees and costs associated with selling your home and purchasing a new home in your new posting locality.

If you are serving full-time or have previously been in the ADF, you may be entitled to HPSEA. A Reservist can only be paid if they are on continuous full-time service for a year or more. HPSEA works on a sell-purchase-sell cycle and to qualify you must purchase or sell a home within certain time limits. This entitlement grants you the ability to claim back the costs of selling and purchasing a new home when you are transferred.

Next, we cover the most asked-about entitlement – Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS).
